Letter 354 – Don’t Let Others Define Who You Are

“Daughters of Destiny,

Sometimes other people try to define who you are. Whether it be your family, coworkers, people around you, or people on social media, only one person’s determination of who you are counts! While the world judges the outward appearance, God looks at the heart.

‘But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart,’ (1 Samuel 16:7).

No matter your situation, never allow a man to tell you who you are. Only your God knows your true heart. Do not let others try to define you and cause you anxiety or depression. That is not of God!! God’s thoughts about you are greater than you could ever think or say!! Isaiah 55:8-9 says, ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.’

How can you believe what a man says about you? Jeremiah 17:9 says, ‘The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?’ Daughters, our hearts are wicked, and when someone defines you, they are coming from that wicked heart, jealousy, envy, or offense. So trust in God, and let him define and guide your steps.

‘In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Let no man judge or define you for who you are today you may not be tomorrow in Christ,’ (Proverbs 3:6). Remember, God already told you who you are! It’s time to embrace who He called you to be and seek the right heart before Him daily!”
