DAY 64:

“When it comes to Jesus… do you relate to Martha or Mary?

“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things,” (Luke 10:41).

For many, the responsibilities of life are weighty and bring unnecessary burdens, because they see a need and get frustrated with people who do not see the needs in the same order or way they do.

“But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me,” (Luke 10:40).

Martha was frustrated with Mary, and even made that frustration known to Jesus. However, He did not see it the same way Martha did, albeit the work she did was still needed… but in this case not more than how Mary was serving Him. Martha served the outward need, Mary served the inner need by ministering to the heart and purpose of fulfilling Jesus’ assignment  and God’s will.

Don’t get me wrong, I would not call on the one that can’t cook to organize the feast.. However, it is very important that because you do not see someone serving the way you think service should be rendered, that you don’t miss the point that God doesn’t see your “service” like theirs either, if it does not minister to and serve His divine purpose.

“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her,” (Luke 10:42).

If everything always looks good on the outside, but the inner relationship is broken, where is the beauty? Where is the manifestation of the glory of God? Despite how many times Jesus announced His death, people still did not properly prepare. Mary did… she also served Him by preparing His body for burial when she anointed Him with her costly perfumes. She understood that in order to really serve Him right, the relationship must be first!

Precious friends, don’t let the busyness of life and the world’s expectations of what the responsibilities of your roles should look like, dismiss or diminish your NEED to hunger after, pursue, and develop a greater relationship with the Jesus. When you learn to love Him and seek Him with everything, you will find Him and learn to serve Him with everything too.!”
