DAY 96:

“With the season of Passover upon us, it is extremely important for us to be merciful toward others, not just during this time but every day. God’s Word is filled with His mercy and speaks very clearly that in order to receive mercy, we must show mercy!! Not only that, but by the same measure of mercy we show others, will be the measure by which we receive it from God.

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy” (Matthew 5:7).

Mercy is one of the beatitudes that Jesus first taught His disciples because Jehovah delights in mercy!

“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them on the table of thine heart” (Proverbs 3:3).

You develop a heart of mercy when you write it upon your heart by seeking God during 4th watch prayer.. You must understand that mercy carries a greater weight than sacrifice to God. Jesus was angry with Jewish religious leaders who did not walk in mercy toward people.

“… I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Matthew 9:13).

Jesus said this because the religious leaders were upset with Him for eating with the same tax collectors and sinners that they shunned. The religious leaders had the wrong weight system in their life and valued being “holy” and making sacrifices higher than being merciful to people.

Living “holy” is of no value for you if you lack mercy with people. Jesus, who is the holiest person to walk the earth, has more compassion and mercy than any of us.. He is our example and the pattern after which we must learn to be merciful. He took the sins of the entire world upon His body and STILL extends mercy by forgiving us so that many will be saved!! Today, choose to pursue the heart of mercy that helps forgive, save, and deliver people..!” David E. Taylor
